inREACH Partners with Pathology Service Associates, LLC To enhance the value of existing clinical information for patient management and health care process improvement, easy to use data mining and data warehousing tools are needed. inREACH and Pathology Service Associates, LLC (PSA) have together developed PathREACH to do just that. PSA associated practices will gain a competitive advantage in their markets via inREACH's web-based products designed to give clients at any location secure Internet access to pathology and laboratory or other medical information. PSA is working with inREACH's software, ClinREACH, plus full text indexing in a commingled, de-identified pathology report database from various PSA associated pathology practices, to bring the PSA information to life through specific searches, report formatting, historical analyses, trending, graphing and networking. Specifically, the project will put data elements into full text indexed categories and the initial sites will help determine and validate the various information elements. After the initial indexing and validation, the data will be combined with additional key information regarding ICD-9 or CPT coding, and demographics that will enhance the pathology data. All the data mining searches and reports will be sanitized of individually identifiable patient information to meet current and future HIPAA guidelines. PSA associated practices will recognize benefits in the analytic and post-analytic areas of informatics by: Enhancing outreach initiatives for associated laboratories and hospitals; Driving down administrative costs in the form of paperwork, telephone calls and personnel; Improving, standardizing and adding new report capabilities, including true web-based reporting; Facilitating better patient care by analyzing clinical utilization patterns and profiles; Providing a basis for consolidated utilization reporting; and Facilitating faster, more informed clinical decisions.
