Co-mingling data from different sources opens up the possibilty of allowing users from those sites to access their own data, and even that from other sites. The problem is that some information is sensitive and some is not. Our solution to this problem is to mark database fields as sensitive or not (sensitive by default). Users can view all data from their own sites but only non-sensitive data from other sites. The original report is not kept since it blends both types of data, so the individual field values are displayed instead.
In the example above, strictly clinical information is non-sensitive, and those demographic fields which are relevant to clinical evaluation (age and sex) are also non-sensitive. The patient name and social security number are labelled as sensitive, and therefore they can only be viewed when the patient's source site matches that of the user. next Please contact us for more information. |
